Colleen McKee

Biography

Colleen McKee's interest in painting and drawing began in childhood and has continued throughout her life. Her formal study of art began at the University of Toronto in 1970 and, after a pause to raise her son and a move to Nova Scotia 1988, she continued her studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design from which she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2010.

Colleen has been a supporter of the arts as a volunteer at the Dalhousie University Art Gallery, as a docent at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and as a member of the board of Visual Arts Nova Scotia.

She has exhibited as a member of the Bedford Basin Artist s Society as well as the Kermesse art exhibition and sale, the Dalhousie Student, Staff, Faulty and Alumni Exhibition, the Cumberland Health Care Foundation Art Gallery, Visual Arts nova Scotia and Art in a Box. Her works can also be seen on occasion at the Art Sales and Rental Gallery in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.

Colleen now spends half the year at her summer home near Northport, Nova Scotia where her studio is located, and the remainder of the year in Toronto. She works in acrylic, oil and watercolour and her paintings are mainly representational.

Her paintings are held in private collections in Canada, the United States and England.
